Oh Zooey! Although she has an incredible career in film and music (encouraged early on by her cinematographer/director father Caleb Deschanel, Passion of Christ), her style is what catches my eye and also the attention of the international fashion scene. The American Pop Culture emulates her on a daily basis by adopting her classy, occasionally simple, but quirky style.
Zooey Deschanel, a 31 year-old blue-eyed Actress (interestingly named after J.D. Salinger’s Classic Satire, Franny and Zooey ,) singer/songwriter , and bona-fide fashion icon, started her career in movies and made an impact with films like Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous” , “Elf” and “500 Days of Summer”. She now is ruling the scene with her incredibly witty show “The New Girl.” This year, 2011, Zooey has exploded on the fashion scene, gracing the covers of magazine like New York Magazine and Canada’s Flare.

Zooey on the June/July 2008 cover (couldn’t help myself, it’s not from 2011 but the cover is gorgeous,) wearing a vintage style corset bathing suit in BlackBook Magazine.
Zooey landed the Rimmel London Ad Campaign in March 2011 and continues to be one of their famous makeup faces. There is a lot of talk stating that these ads are not true to Zooey’s personality, and that they don’t even look like her.
“Zooey Deschanel is in the latest round of Rimmel ads and they are preposterous. The final image (pictured) may have looked more like the indie heart-throb had they just photographed a wax statue of her.” Ashley Cardiff in her article “Photoshop of Horrors” from the fashion website thegloss.com
I agree. Please stop photo-shopping the nose, and broadening the cheeks. She is gorgeous the way she is. Damn editors!
Zooey hasn’t let fame get to her. I’m sure she is as bubbly and happy in real life as she is depicted in Hollywood. Also, I’m sure she has her down days as well, just like the rest of us. Celebrities are people too!
“It’s like waiting in line for a roller coaster,” she says. “When you do get on it, you appreciate it more. I don’t want to get on a roller coaster without waiting for it. That’s part of the fun.” Zooey speaking about her climb to the top of the A-list.
Her Red Carpet Attire is always esthetically pleasing. A few of my favorites.
So you want to dress just like Zooey? Who doesn’t!? Here is a great article from Polyvore breaking down a few pieces that look like “The New Girl.” Purchase these beautiful pieces as they are perfect for Spring 2012!
